Moving to today, side-by-side, we can see that the church stands pretty much the same as when it was built with just the loss of some of the decorative work. But now, along with the cemetery, the fountain is also gone. And what you see in front of the church on the right is the construction of a light rail. We fought for a proper excavation, but you know the old adage about fighting City Hall. We lost. They broke their own laws to maintain the erasure of this historic Black territory.*

*While I did say this in my presentation which is preserved on video, it's not technically correct. I should have said that they did the absolute least to stay inside the law, and refused to do the proper, full excavation of the cemetery that we had called for.
